We benefit from our well-founded knowledge in the field of compi\u00adler technology. We have been opera\u00adting in this special field of compu\u00adter science for 30 years. Research work under auspi\u00adces of the chair \u201cProgramming Languages and Compi\u00adler\u201d of the Techni\u00adcal Univer\u00adsity of Chemni\u00adt\u00ad\u00adz\/\u00ad\u00adKarl-Marx-Stadt laid the founda\u00adtion for our current scien\u00adti\u00adfic basis for compi\u00adler technology and parser techno\u00adlo\u00adgies. Even today, colla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adtive engage\u00adment with univer\u00adsi\u00adties and higher educa\u00adtio\u00adnal insti\u00adtu\u00adti\u00adons keeps going in the form of exter\u00adnal lectures, super\u00advi\u00adsed diplo\u00admas, common research projects with the result that new scien\u00adti\u00adfic know-how flows directly into the company\u2019s develo\u00adp\u00adment work.<\/p>\n

Zentra\u00adles Innova\u00adti\u00adons\u00adpro\u00adgramm Mittel\u00adstand (ZIM):
\nGeneric toolbox for automa\u00adted data migration as part of a software migration<\/h2>\n

<\/a>The aim of this research project is to take our proprie\u00adtary techno\u00adlo\u00adgies and tools for automa\u00adted data migration to an envia\u00adble level of perfec\u00adtion. In parti\u00adcu\u00adlar, the focus is on impro\u00adving the range of appli\u00adca\u00adbi\u00adlity of the tools for diffe\u00adrent platforms (BS2000, HPE NonStop, IBM Mainframe), programming languages (COBOL, PL\/I, TAL, SPL) and file systems (e.g. LEASY [BS2000], Enscribe [HPE NonStop], IMS [IBM Mainframe]) without having to adapt the tools exten\u00adsi\u00advely for each new project. In this regard, we follow a generic approach.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The project results round off our pecBOX (pro et con \u2013 Toolbox for Software Migration)<\/a>, which compri\u00adses a set of tools support\u00ading all compon\u00adents of migration (programming languages, job control languages, inter\u00adfaces, file systems and middleware).<\/p>\n

\nQ\u2011MIG \u2013 Develo\u00adp\u00adment of a quality-driven, generic tool chain for software migration<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The aim of this research is to further develop existing indivi\u00addual tools up to a migration factory in order to achieve a drastic reduc\u00adtion of time and finan\u00adcial effort for the adaption of tools to indivi\u00addual custo\u00admer projects. Yet another target of the project is to develop a quality control station that enables the measu\u00adre\u00adment of quality of software migrations.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/b>Thus, we can make quanti\u00adta\u00adtive state\u00adments empha\u00adsis\u00ading the impro\u00adve\u00adment of program quality achie\u00adved by the migration and the effort of migration projects in contrast to any redeve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment and intro\u00adduc\u00adtion of standard software.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Against the backdrop of our company\u2019s 20th<\/sup> anniver\u00adsary, we organised the techni\u00adcal confe\u00adrence \u201cSOFTWARE-MIGRATION aktuell\u201d. Guests from the fields of research and indus\u00adtry were invited to this event.<\/p>\n

At the event, interes\u00adt\u00ading and exclu\u00adsive lectures on the topic of software migration were presen\u00adted. The confe\u00adrence programme also focused on reports based on experi\u00adence of users who had already imple\u00admen\u00adted migration projects successfully. In an exhibi\u00adtion held simul\u00adta\u00adneously, we presen\u00adted our field-proven tools and techno\u00adlo\u00adgies for software migration.<\/p>\n

Techni\u00adcal confe\u00adrence for software migration<\/h2>\n

In coope\u00adra\u00adtion with the TU Chemnitz and the German Infor\u00adma\u00adtics Society, we organised a series of techni\u00adcal confe\u00adren\u00adces dealing with software migration.<\/p>\n

These confe\u00adren\u00adces formed a central platform for sharing views on software migration.<\/p>\n

The presen\u00adta\u00adti\u00adons at the confe\u00adrence included univer\u00adsity research findings and experi\u00adence gained from real migration projects which evoked much interest among practi\u00adtio\u00adners who happen to be planning migration projects.
