The Centre for Building Materi\u00adals<\/a> (cbm) at the TU M\u00fcnchen<\/a> is one of the most important research and testing insti\u00adtu\u00adtes for building materi\u00adals in Germany. The cbm unites the areas of teaching, research and materi\u00adals testing under one roof. This also includes, as part of the Labora\u00adtory of Building Struc\u00adtures (MPA BAU), the Division Building Materi\u00adals as an appro\u00adved labora\u00adtory for testing, surveil\u00adlance and certi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion of a broad range of construc\u00adtion materi\u00adals such as reinfor\u00adcing or prestres\u00adsing steel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The cbm has a database-based software system \u2018Shanti\u2019 to support various work areas in materi\u00adals testing. The inspec\u00adtion proces\u00adses follow a clearly defined workflow, which is, under IT-based terms, mapped by Shanti. The main objec\u00adti\u00adves are to facili\u00adtate work, increase effici\u00adency, standar\u00addise work proces\u00adses and reduce the error rate when creating proto\u00adcols and reports. This is to be achie\u00adved through the exten\u00adsive automa\u00adtion of work processes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Requi\u00adre\u00adment: <\/strong>over several years, the appli\u00adca\u00adtion was develo\u00adped intern\u00adally by cbm. At the start of the project in January 2016, it was in a proto\u00adtype, largely untes\u00adted and undocu\u00admen\u00adted state. In a tender process, cbm sought exter\u00adnal support for the conso\u00adli\u00adda\u00adtion and further develo\u00adp\u00adment of Shanti, which was won by pro et con.<\/p>\n

Reali\u00adsa\u00adtion: <\/strong>the first phase of the project invol\u00adved a compre\u00adhen\u00adsive analy\u00adsis and conso\u00adli\u00adda\u00adtion of the current system. Errors in existing function\u00ada\u00adli\u00adties and funda\u00admen\u00adtal defici\u00aden\u00adcies in the database design (e.g. viola\u00adti\u00adons of the relatio\u00adnal concept) and in the system archi\u00adtec\u00adture were elimi\u00adna\u00adted and compon\u00adents not yet produc\u00adtive were finali\u00adsed or rounded off. In a second project phase, pro et con reali\u00adsed the further optimi\u00adsa\u00adtion and expan\u00adsion of Shanti as well as the creation of user and develo\u00adper documen\u00adta\u00adtion. The existing modules were subjec\u00adted to a complex software reengi\u00adnee\u00adring process and new sections were also develo\u00adped to further automate and standar\u00addise the indivi\u00addual inspec\u00adtion processes.<\/p>\n

Result: <\/strong>with the go-live at the end of Decem\u00adber 2016, the Shanti moder\u00adni\u00adsa\u00adtion project was successfully comple\u00adted. Since then, pro et con has been reali\u00adsing the mainten\u00adance and syste\u00adma\u00adtic further develo\u00adp\u00adment on the basis of a service contract.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>
